Obituary for Norman J. /Preach/ Pryor

Norman J. "Preach" Pryor, 77, a life long resident of Monrovia,IN, died January 10, 2009. He was born on March 1,1931 in Monrovia, IN to the late Herman and Dorothy (Turley) Pryor. He married Maralou (Dillon) Pryor on November, 14, 1952 and she survives. He was a 1949 Monrovia High School Graduate and attened Indiana State University. He was a Marine Corp. Veteran during the Korean War. He was a Livestock Broker for Producers Marketing Association in Indianapolis, IN for 30 years. He then worked for the Monroe-Gregg School Corporation for 10 years. He was a member of the Monrovia United Methodist Church, Monrovia Masonic Lodge and Mooresville American Legion. He coached 7th grade basketball for 3 years, was an original member of the Monrovia Football Fathers and coached Little League baseball. He was also a former member of the Monrovia Volunteer Fire Dept. He also loved to golf.

He is survived by his wife, Maralou Pryor of Monrovia, IN; 3 Children, Jeffrey J.(Terri) Pryor of Bloomington, IN, Carl Douglas (Leann) Pryor of Mooresville, IN, Dawn Sheree (Michael) Marsh of Monrovia, IN; 8 Grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Tiffani, Jordan, Bailey, Renea, Ryan and Hunter; 5 Great Grandchildren, Adrian, Charity, Ethan, Evan, and Caleb; and 1 Brother, Gary Pryor of Mooresville, IN. He is also preceded in death by his Parents: Herman and Dorothy (Turley) Pryor and 1 Brother, Ronald Pryor.

Calling hours for Norman will be from 4-8pm, Tuesday, January 13, 2009 and from 10-11am, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center (Next door to Jones Family Mortuary). The funeral will be at 11am, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Gordon Easterline will officiate the service and Norman will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Monrovia United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
