Obituary for Mildred Lucile Clark

Mildred Lucile Clark, 84, of Camby, IN, died on September 29, 2012. Mildred was born to Grover L. & Jessie (Hogan) Owens on February 18, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN. Mildred married Billy G. Clark on April 29, 1950.

Mildred worked as a Deputy Assessor for Pike Township for 31 years, retiring in 2001. Mildred was a member of Fairfield Friends Meeting, where she also was an Organist for 30 years. Mildred was a 50 year member and Past Matron of Honor of West Newton Order of Eastern Star #489. Mildred graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1946 and was the first female graduate to fly a solo airplane. Mildred has lived in Camby, IN for the past 82 years.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 62 years, Billy G. Clark of Camby, IN; 4 sons, Ernie, Bob, Donald & Bill Clark; 8 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Grover L. & Jessie (Hogan) Owens; a son, Ronald J. Clark; 2 brothers, 4 sisters and a great granddaughter, Taylor Clark.

Calling for Mildred will be from 2-8pm on Thursday, October 4, 2012, which includes a 7:30pm Eastern Star Service at Jones Family Mortuary & 10-11am, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Fairfield Friends Meeting. Jennifer Silvers & Phil Gulley will officiate the 11am funeral service on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Fairfield Friends Meeting. Mildred will be laid to rest at Fairfield Cemetery in Camby, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to Fairfield Friends Meeting, 10441 E. County Road 700 South, Camby, IN 46113.
