Obituary for Mavis Cora Baxter

Mavis Cora Baxter, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 11, 2023. Mavis was born on June 23, 1941 in Indianapolis to the late James Irving and Edith Carrie (Taylor) Fultz.

Mavis is survived by four children: Teresa Heiliger (Andy) of Plainfield, David Baxter of TX, Edward Baxter (Shannon) of Eminence and Kevin Baxter (Heather) of New Castle; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; four sisters: Miriam Verhines, Evelyn Frank, Doris Bailey and Karen Templeton; one brother, James Fultz.

Mavis is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Reba Baxter; son, Keith Reid; granddaughter, Zoey Baxter; great granddaughter, Aribella Park; two brothers: Charles and Maurice Fultz; sister, Roselyn Rich.

Mavis was a receptionist for H & R Block in Indianapolis for three years. Previously, she was a cook for Cracker Barrell in Plainfield and Waffle House in Brownsburg which later was known as Mary Maxx and was a cashier at Crystal Flash in Mooresville for several years.

Mavis enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, baking and working with puzzles. She was an avid Cubs and Colts fan along with huge Houston Astros and Texas Rangers fan. However, her pride and joy was spending time with her kids and grandchildren.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 11am-1pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Nathan Cannon will officiate the celebration of life service following the visitation at 1pm. Mavis will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
