Suzie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She left us far too soon and will be forever loved and remembered. Suzie devoted her life to her family. She shared her attendance at church with her girls and grandkids. Her grandkids were like a garden of wildflowers. They all knew her as “mamaw Suzie”. She loved watching them blossom and grow. She cared for them lovingly and nurtured them with encouragement. She often bragged of this exquisite bouquet that lit up her days. Suzie held a child-like exuberance for adventure and fun. She loved planning road trips and taking any willing passengers who wanted to go along, the more the merrier. She lived loving and sharing her life.
Suzie graduated from Ivy Tech Nursing School in 1979. She grew up in Bloomington and moved to Indianapolis with her four children in 1981. She was retired from a nursing career of 39 years. She worked at The Harrison in Speedway for several years before retiring. She had a vast network of friends throughout her life and career. She cherished these friendships and sought to remain connected with many through social gatherings and social media.
Suzie loved listening to music of varied genres; in particular Mr. Garth Brooks. Attending concerts was a favorite, especially when the experience was shared with those matching her level of enthusiasm – “giddy”. She enjoyed going to the State Fair and dinner out with friends and family. A movie buff and NCIS fan. She also enjoyed trivia and little nuggets of history. Suzie worked hard her entire life, giving herself tirelessly to raise her children well. She adopted a group of close friends that were family. They helped her through the years and she was a loyal friend that loved and appreciated deeply. Her friends were like sweet wine that she savored and held close to her heart.
It is with great sadness that we say good-bye for now. We know that Suzie is being welcomed in heaven by her heavenly father and those that have gone before who have been waiting to reunite and embrace her once again.
Suzie will be remembered with a Celebration of Life Service at 6pm on Monday, March 1st at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, Mooresville. A visitation from 4 to 6 pm will be held prior to services. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
