Obituary for Mary Frances McKnight Beach

Mary Frances McKnight Beach, 90, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Jan. 5, 2015. Mary was born to Donald Earl and Mabel Bell (Kaiser) Collins on Apr. 3, 1924 in Indianapolis. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1942. She married James M. Beach on Aug. 16, 2003.

Mary was a Phone Operator for Indiana Bell in Indianapolis for 26 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Friendly Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis. She has lived in Plainfield since 1997 and her birthplace of Indianapolis for most of her life.

Mary is survived by her husband, James M. Beach of Plainfield; three children, Elaine Garriott of Plainfield, Jim (Severa) McKnight of Indianapolis and Leanne (John) Smith of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren, Dawn, Donald, Damon, Andy, Sara, Ryan, Chris, Scott, Matt, Amy, Carey, Michael, Lisa and Erica; several great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Collins; a brother, Delbert Collins and a step son, James W. Beach of Indianapolis. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mabel Collins; previous spouses, Harry McKnight and Hubert "Cedric" Holliday; a son, Keith "Doc" Holliday; a step daughter, Judy McKnight Proctor; a sister, Jean Hunter and a brother, Bobby Collins.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 and 11-12 noon, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Family will lead the 12 noon celebration of life service on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary. Mary will be laid to rest in Floral Park Cemetery.
