Obituary for Lawrence L. Willis

Lawrence L. Willis, 90 of Camby, IN passed away Friday, May 22, 2009. He was born February 12, 1919 in Pennington Gap, VA to the late Albert J. and Minnie (Collins) Willis. He married Edna (Poteet) Willis on March 13, 1937.

Lawrence has lived in Camby, IN since 1954 and in Pennington Gap, VA for 37 years. He was a member of the New Hope Gospel Tabernacle and also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He had been a self-employed Carpenter for 30 years and previously, he was a Coal Miner for UMWA for 21 years.

Lawrence is survived by Wife, Edna (Poteet) Willis of Camby, IN; 4 Sons: Randell (Mary) Willis of Mooresville, IN, Earl (Brenda) Willis of Camby, IN, Curtis Willis of Gosport, IN, and Kenneth "Dave" (Debra) Willis of Franklin, IN; 2 Daughters, Nancy (Bob) May of Cloverdale,IN and Janice K. (John) Gott of Camby, IN; 20 Grandchildren; 39 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by 1 Son, Garcie Willis; 1 Daughter, Phyllis Ann Osborne; 1 Granddaughter, Jennifer Osborne; 1 Sister, Ollie Ray; and 5 Brothers: Henry, Robert, Claude, Kelly and Earl Willis.

Calling hours for Lawrence will be from 4-8pm, Monday, May 25, 2009 at Jones Family Mortuary and from 9-10am, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at New Hope Gospel Tabernacle in Mooresville, IN. The Funeral will be at 10am, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at New Hope Gospel Tabernacle. Ken Pingleton will officiate the service and Lawrence will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery.
