Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Short Jr.
Lawrence "Larry" Short Jr., 84, of Summer Shade, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, November 16th, 2021. He was born August 20th, 1937 in Raven, Virginia to his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Beulah M. (Vance) Short. He married Lella "Fern" (Raney) Short on September 9th, 1961. He was a previous resident of Ohio, but resided in Mooresville, Indiana for 50 years before moving to Kentucky in 2020.
Larry is survived by his three children: Paula L. (Jeff) Rigsby of Brown County, Kenneth (Betsy Brandon) Short of Kentucky, and Christopher L. (Amanda) Short of Mooresville; five grandchildren: Robert Short, Danielle (Dalton) Edwards, Keagan Short, Kolten Short, and Camden Short; three great grandchildren: Jzeckha Parker, Kaiye Parker and Ivy Edwards; one brother, Bill Short; and three sisters: Dollie Johnson, Ida Naum, and Jo Rairden. Larry is preceded in death by both of his parents; and his wife, Lella "Fern" Short.
Larry served in the United States Air Force and discharged in 1957. He was a Job Setter for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis for 32 years before retiring in 1991. Larry was a member of Waverly Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Larry was known by many as a caring, family man.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 2 to 6pm on Sunday, November 21st and from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Monday, November 22nd at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 22nd at the funeral home. Larry will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
