Obituary for Larry Lee Miller Sr.

Larry Lee Miller Sr., 70, of Nashville, passed away peacefully on Jan. 12, 2015. Larry was born to Charles I. and Gertrude (Pahmeier) Miller on June 3, 1944 in West Newton. Larry was a 1962 Decatur Central High School graduate. He was an Army, Vietnam War Veteran, stationed in Germany. He married Joellen (Burgett) Miller on July 7, 1972.

Larry was a Mechanic for Decatur Township Schools Transportation Department from 1978-2003. Previously, he was an Auto Mechanic for Paul Moon Phillips 66 for 15 years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Nashville American Legion Post 13. He has lived in Nashville for the past 18 years, Indianapolis for 24 years and his birthplace of West Newton for 28 years.

Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joellen Miller of Nashville; four children, Shea (Nardine) Simmons of Martinsville, Nathan Simmons of Indianapolis, Dwight (Debra) Simmons of Greencastle and Larry (Sandi) Miller Jr. of Camby; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Brittany, Kirsten, Tyler, Travis, Shelbi, Luke and Chloe; two brothers, Kenneth and Glenn Miller and two sisters, Barbara Lucas and Marilyn Aultman. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Miller.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 and 9-10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Jones Crossing Baquet Center, next door to Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor John Dunaway will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Larry will be laid to rest in Nebo Memorial Park, Martinsville.
