Obituary for Kimberly S. McCleary (Nicholson)

Kimberly Suzann (Nicholson) McCleary, known to all as Kim, passed away peacefully at her home in Mooresville, IN on August 6, 2020 surrounded by family and friends after a valiant battle with breast cancer.

She was born on January 24, 1970 in Danville, IN to Jerry and Juanita Nicholson. She graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1988.

Kim leaves behind a very loving husband, Chris McCleary, whom she wed on April 21, 1990. Also left behind are: daughter Amanda, son-in-law Tyler, son Nathan, parents Jerry and Juanita and her brother Jeff. Her latest pride and joy stemmed from the birth of her first and only grandson, Henry Thomas Swift, born on May 30, 2020. Additional survivors include: Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces and Nephews, Brothers and Sisters-n-law as well as numerous cousins.

Kim’s happy places were Gatlinburg, TN and Shipshewana, where she visited often with her family, mom and aunts. Kim loved the serenity of the mountains and the tranquility of the beaches. She would often sit alone to reflect in the mountains, where she felt closest to God.

Kim will be most remembered by her laughter and sense of humor. Her vivacious soul captured the adoration of anyone who crossed her path. This woman could find humor in any situation!

She loved adventures of all kinds, whether traveling near or far, camping or Black Friday shopping (especially when the kids were little); her adventurous spirit was ready to take flight. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. If ever there was a crisis, she was the first one by your side and ready to help! Some of her other favorite things included: family card games, Christmas bingo, Garth Brooks and Betty Boop.

But more than anything, Kim loved her family. She was a fierce protector of her children while loving and guiding them into adulthood. The wonderful nature of her children is a representation of how she lived her 50 years on this earth. As Betty Boop would say “Today is a new day, so laugh at the past, live for today and look forward to the future”.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 11th and from 9 to 10 am on Wednesday, August 12th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Pastor Luke Proctor will officiate a celebration of life that will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 12th at the funeral home. Kim will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. The family asks that masks are worn and social distancing be practiced to ensure the safety of all family members during visitation and services.
