Joseph J. Baughman, 83, of Mooresville, IN, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2013. Joseph was born to J. C. & Bessie Marie (Armstrong) Baughman on June 20, 1930 in Mooresville, IN. Joseph married Sharon (Jones) Baughman on February 7, 1960.

Joseph was a 1948 Martinsville High School Graduate. He graduated from Purdue University in 1952 with an Agricultural Degree. Prior to attending Purdue University, he joined the Indiana National Guard where he served until joining the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War.

Joseph was a liftime farmer, breeding Hampshire hogs and Angus cattle. He also enjoyed raising rabbits. He served as County Extension Agent in Washington, IN. He was also active in the community pursuing environmental concerns.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Baughman of Mooresville, IN; two children, Julie (Chuck) Barr of Dekalb, IL and Susan Baughman of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, William K. Baughman of Mooresville, IN and a sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Kinder of Logansport, IN. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. & Bessie Marie (Armstrong) Baughman and a brother, Ernest Baughman.

Family and friends may attend calling hours from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 and 12-1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. Chaplain James Paino will officiate the 1 p.m. celebration of life service on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. Joseph will be laid to rest at Springville West Cemetery, Springville, IN.
