Obituary for JC Overton

JC Overton 87, Mooresville, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2014. JC was born to Walter Seldon Overton and Vangie (Sailors) Overton on March 29, 1927 in Macon County, TN. JC married Shirley (Forney) Overton on April 4, 1981.

JC was a Fabricator for Chrysler Corp for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 50 year member of Indianapolis Masonic Lodge #669 and a long time member of the Indianapolis Hiking Club. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Shirley. He has lived in Mooresville for the past 11 years, Camby for 14 years, Indianapolis for 35 years and Macon County, TN for 12 years.

JC is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shirley Overton of Mooresville; a step daughter, Patti (Jose) Ortiz of Indianapolis; a step son, John (Connie) Coy of Avon; a grandson, Joseph Coy and seven nieces and nephews. JC is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Vangie Overton; four sisters, Vera Mae Hale, Vester Stinson, Clarice Overton, Annie Lois Jent and a niece.

Family and friends may attend calling hours from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Elder Nathan York will officiate the 1 p.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. JC will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Autism Speaks or Alzheimers Association.
