Obituary for James E. Stephens

James E. Stephens, 80, Plainfield, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Manorcare Prestwick. James was born on May 20, 1931 in Russell Springs, KY to Hebrotis and Tina Lee (McGowen) Stephens. He married the late Ida Mae (Pike) Stephens on June 12, 1949. They were married for 62 years.

James lived most of his life in the Indianapolis area. He was a 1949 graduate of Russell Springs, KY High School. He was a truck driver for General Motors, Allison Division before retiring in 1988. During his tenure at General Motors he never missed a day of work. He was a 50 year member of West Newton Masonic Lodge #707.

James is survived by 2 children: Gerald E. (Pamela) Stephens of Sarasota, FL and Sandra K. (Jack) Stackman of Plainfield, IN; 4 grandchildren: Brian Joseph Stephens, Deidra Roberts, Andrea Martin and Jackie Stackman; 1 great granddaughter, Leah Pamela Martin; 2 sisters: Sylvia Hester Walker and Wanda Sparks. James is preceded by 1 grandson, Jon Vincent Stackman; 2 brothers: Edwin G. and Arlin B. Stephens; 1 sister, Geneva Wilson.

It is the families wishes to have private services at Maple Hill Cemetery.
