Obituary for James Alan Reed

James Alan "Jim" Reed, 75, of Camby, passed away Thursday, August 10th, 2023. He was born September 21st, 1947 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to his parents James Francis and Lucille Virginia (Blassé) Reed. He married Linda (Mull) Reed on May 13th, 1989.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda (Mull) Reed of Camby; five children: Heather Reed, Rachael Dean, Holly Reed, Katona Vaughn, and Joshua Reed; sister, Rose Manns; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and his first wife, Myra Stewart. Jim is preceded in death by both of his parents and sister, Patricia Ann Reed.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Medaryville High School. He later obtained his Bachelors degree in Business Management from Purdue University in 1969, where he also played football. Jim was the Owner and Operator for several businesses including Indiana Uniform in Mooresville. He was an entrepreneur, inventor and innovator. Jim attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Mooresville and St. Marks Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He was a member of Mooresville Chamber of Commerce. Jim was known by many as a kind, compassionate, faithful, and a "this too shall pass" kind of man. He possessed an undying loyalty to his family and friends with the ability to make people smile. Jim enjoyed watching and spending time with his grandchildren. Jim met and worked with Dr. Martin Luther King in Chicago during the civil rights movement meeting. He was asked to speak at some of the conferences the movement was having at that time. He had the privilege of meeting President Reagan when he came to Mooresville in 1985. Jim was provided the opportunity to do missionary work in Haiti helping build churches, schools, and medical clinics.

A celebration of life memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 pm, Friday, August 18, 2023 at Mt. Gilead Church 6019 East State Road 144, Mooresville, IN 46158. Please enter through door #8.

A Mass of Resurrection memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 19th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Mooresville.

Cremation and final arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
