Obituary for James V. Collins Jr.

James V. "Java" Collins Jr., 75, of Camby, passed away Friday, October 7th, 2022. He was born January 12th, 1947 in Indianapolis to his parents James V. and Joan (Keith) Collins. He was married to the late Debbie Collins. He was a life long resident of Indianapolis.

Jim is survived by his son, Jim (wife, Jessica) Collins III of Carmel; one daughter, Shelly Collins of Camby; and five grandchildren: Hannah Collins, Zach Collins, Drew Collins, Ashlyn Dunwoody, and Tanner Dunwoody. Jim is preceded in death by both of his parents; his first wife, Vicky Collins; and his second wife, Debbie Collins.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of Decatur Central High School. He later on joined the United States Navy. Jim was a Truck Driver for CF & McCleans Trucking Companies for 30 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 135, American Legion Post 64 and VFW Post 1587. Jim enjoyed golf, bowling, and basketball. He followed The Golden State Warriors. Jim was a high school pole vaulter and loved to sing karaoke as well as swimming and driving. He also enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and playing softball.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, October 17th and from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, October 18th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A memorial service will be held following visitation at 11 am at the funeral home. Jim will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood at a later date.
