Jack A Butler, 78, of Camby, passed away Tuesday, April 7th, 2020. He was born December 17th, 1941 in Indianapolis to his parents, the late Fred O. and Bernice (Brown) Butler. He was a resident of Camby and lived in the home in which he was raised for all of his life.
Jack is survived by his sister, Sue Ellen (Robert "Bob") Collins of Monrovia; a niece, Corinne (Kent) McGrew; a nephew, Miles Collins and Neva Lancaster; great nieces and nephews: Hannah and Colin McGrew, Olivia Collins, Ethan (Kaylea) Collins, and Logan Lancaster; and many cousins. Jack is preceded in death by both of his parents.
Jack was a 1960 graduate of Decatur Central High School. After graduating from high school he furthered his education at Indiana State University where he obtained his Master's Degree in Elementary Education. He worked most of his teaching years as an elementary school teacher for West Newton Grade School.
Jack enjoyed various activities such as gardening and landscaping. He was an avid collector of Pennsylvania Rail Road memorabilia and built his very own full featured custom railroad depot at his home. Jack showed a great interest in the history of the town of Camby. He was very involved in the community serving in the Decatur Central Lion's Club, Decatur Township Alumni Association, and was also a member of Camby Community Church.
A very special Thank You is sent to All The Staff in ICU at Franciscan Hospital, Mooresville. The care and love shown by the nurses, respiratory therapist, and Chaplain in the last few hours of Jack’s life brought unmeasurable comfort to Jack and his family.
Due to the current unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings there will be no services at this time. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Jack will be buried later at Fairfield Cemetery in Camby.
