Obituary for Henry J. Van De Voorde Jr.

Henry J. Van De Voorde, Jr, 58, passed away on February 3, 2022, at home with his wife by his side. Henry was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 10, 1963 to the Henry J. Van De Voorde, Sr. and Georgella Davis.

Henry graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1982.

While working at his father’s company at Sun Windows in Indianapolis, IN, Henry met Nannette and they quickly fell in love, getting engaged just a month later and marrying one year later on August 31, 1991. They had two daughters, Victoria (24) and Elizabeth (20) and are blessed to be adding two sons, Collin Richardson in May 2022, and Connor Kennedy in the near future.

Nothing filled Henry’s heart more than spending time with his family and friends. Henry was a drag racing enthusiast and proud of his many accomplishments, including winning the coveted Wally, NHRA’s most prestigious trophy, at Lyons Raceway Park in 2010.

Henry also enjoyed riding his Harley and was proud to support our troops as an Auxiliary and Riders member of the VFW Post 1111 and son of the American Legion Post 103 in Mooresville, Indiana.

Henry never met a stranger and was always friendly and kind. He was a jack of all trades and many sought his guidance and counsel that he was always happy to give. Henry’s calm demeanor, grace, and integrity made him a loving husband, a wonderful daddy and loyal friend.

For the past 20 months, Henry battled Stage 4 bladder cancer with courage and determination, always putting others first. He didn’t give up and throughout his journey, he lovingly took care of his wife and daughters. During this battle, he was able to enjoy two vacations with his family and a vacation celebrating his 30th wedding anniversary.

Henry touched many lives and inspired everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Nannette; daughters, Victoria Irene Van De Voorde and Elizabeth Lanea Van De Voorde; his future sons-in-law Collin Eugene Richardson and Connor Harrison Kennedy; his mother, Georgella Davis; sister, Annette Davis; niece, Valerie Correll; and half-brother, Daniel Van De Voorde.

He is preceded in death by by his father, Henry J. Van De Voorde, Sr.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-7 pm, Friday, February 11, 2022 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Steve White will officiate the celebration of life at 10 am, Saturday, February 12, 2022 in the Funeral Home. Final arrangements and cremation were entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary.
