Obituary for Elzie I. Lewis

Elzie I. Lewis, 74, Martinsville, IN passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Elzie was born in London, KY on October 21, 1939 to the late Leander Lee and Nellie Belle (Johnson) Lewis. He married Joann (Wilson) Lewis on August 26, 1965.

Elzie grew up in Brownsburg and lived in Mooresville since 1991. He was a Foreman and Equipment Operator for Brickyard Imported Car Parts in Brooklyn, IN for 25 years. He was a member of Duracats and served in the United States Army.

Elzie is survived by his wife; 4 children: Kenneth Lewis of Brooklyn, Mary Ellen (Scott) Kennedy of Clinton, Betty Lewis of Mooresville and Samantha Lynn (William) Keller of Clinton; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Mary Jane Jones, Florence Graham and Susie Hedges. He is also preceded by 7 brothers: Edgar, Hassell, Hiram, Nay, Edsel, George and Henry Lee Lewis and 1 sister, Myrtle Lewis.

Family and friends may gather 1-7pm, Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary and 9-10am, Monday, June 9, 2014. Services will be 10am, Monday, June 9, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary with Terry Lewis officiating. Elzie will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery.
