Obituary for Eldon Gerald "Jerry" Staggs

Eldon Gerald "Jerry" Staggs, 78, of Franklin, passed away Monday, June 1st, 2020. He was born May 5th, 1942 in Greencastle to his parents, Eldon Staggs and Mildred Christine (White) Hazelwood. He was a resident of Mooresville since 1994 and previously grew up in Clinton Falls.

Jerry is survived by his seven children: Deldon Staggs of Hawaii, Duane Staggs of Hawaii, Dawn "Deedee" Staggs of Franklin, Julie Collins of College Station, Texas, Walker Kennedy of College Station, Texas, Becky (Brian) Cass of Kentucky and Rhonda (Chris) Krebs of Fairland; 14 grandchildren: Deldon Jr, Dallas, Noah, David, Ashley (Danny), Trey, Sydney, Chelsea, Makenzie, Brianna, Analicia, Caleb, Jacob and Mason; and eight great grandchildren: Milia, Aden, Alexis, Azrah, Hudson, Ellen, Riley, and Noelle. Jerry is preceded in death by both of his parents, one sister, June Pauline Staggs and son in law, Jim Collins.

Jerry joined the Army in 1960 and later worked as a Crossing Guard for schools. He was a Truck Driver who drove coast to coast. He worked in a ware house for Daner's in Indianapolis as well as worked security for the race track and the Hoosier Dome. Jerry was a member of Teamsters Local. He was a spiritual man. Jerry enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan, especially football and the Steelers and Texas A&M.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, June 5th and from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, June 5th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 6th at the funeral home. Jerry will be laid to rest at Clinton Falls Cemetery in Clinton Falls.
