Obituary for Drusilla Mae Van Hoy (Gentry)

Drusilla Mae (Gentry) Van Hoy, 84, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. She was born April 17th, 1939 in Panola, Kentucky to her parents Glenn and Elon (Bicknell) Gentry.

Drusilla is survived by her daughter, Cindy Baker of Mooresville; her son, Brian Van Hoy (Kirsten) of Trafalgar; and five grandchildren: Sarah R. (Mahdi), Ethan J. (Sara), Elliott R. (Katie), Elon M. (Jared) and Austin M. (Rylie); 8 great grandchildren: Lochlyn R., Sadler J., Navy R., Slade H., Halston G., Maryam S., Darya H and Vera G. who she was affectionately referred to as Mamau; and two brothers; Maurice and Lewis. Drusilla is preceded in death by both of her parents and siblings Lilly, Clark, Jess, Virginia, Jeffie and Maxine

Drusilla was a 1957 graduate of Monrovia High School. She worked as a Bank Teller for Indiana National Bank. She later was employed in the cafeteria at Mooresville Schools for 5 years, at St. Susanna school in Plainfield and at Mooresville school, where she also was a crossing guard.

Drusilla was in awe of her mother's quilt making abilities and was always eager to talk about those quilts with anyone she came into contact with. She enjoyed going to garage sales, and loved antiquing to find the best treasure she could. She loved traveling to Kentucky to spend time with her family there. The highlight of her days was spending time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who fondly recall her saying "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck"...and "that's about all I know!"

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Mt. Pleasant at Hall Cemetery in Hall, IN. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
