Obituary for Dorothy Ann Stephens (Frazier)

Dorothy Ann (Frazier) Stephens, 91, of St. Johns, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 10th, 2021. She was born January 31st, 1930 in Bridgeport, Indiana to her parents, Maurice William and Lela Mae (Dowden) Frazier. She married Thomas H. Stephens on February 23rd, 1951. Although she was a resident of Decatur Township for most of her life she most recently was a resident of Florida since 2015.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters: Becky (Greg) Kimball of Florida and Marianne Stephens of Florida; two grandsons: Brandon (Casey) Kimball of Arizona and Christopher (Marina) Kimball of Florida; and three great grandchildren: Bella and Cyle Kimball and Phoenix Kimball. Dorothy is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Thomas H. Stephens; and three sisters: Mary Gaines, Doris Jones, and Margaret Elliott.

Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Decatur Central High School. She later attended Indiana University, graduating in 1954 with her Master's. Dorothy worked as an Elementary School Teacher at MSD of Decatur Township for 33 years before retiring in 1986. She was a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, at which point she was very involved with and a current member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association. Dorothy was also a life member of the Indiana University Alumni. She was very involved with the Girl Scout's, in which she was known for being a very giving person. Dorothy was an avid I.U. basketball fan.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, November 17th and from 9 to 10 am on Thursday, November 18th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 am following visitation on Thursday, November 18th at the funeral home. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.

The family has requested that masks are recommended but not required.
