Obituary for Doris Evelyn Hancock (Anglin)

Evelyn (Anglin) Hancock, 96, of Camby, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born October 18th, 1923 in Walnut Grove, Mississippi to her parents, Robert Anglin and Sarah (Richmond) Townsend. She married John E. Hancock on August 24th, 1945. She lived in Mississippi for 22 years and was a resident of Indianapolis since 1945.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jeff) Thompson of Camby; five grandchildren: Sheila Croley, Shelli Bowling, John Hancock, Jake Hancock, and Erica Seagrave; and nine great grandchildren: Braxton, Alayna, Markie, Zach, Josh, Brandon, Audrey, Morgan, and Jackson. Evelyn is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, John E. Hancock; two sons: Don Hancock and Bob Hancock; and a half brother, Auvie Anglin.

Evelyn was a 1941 graduate of Carthage High School in Carthage Mississippi. She was a Cafeteria Worker for Decatur Central Middle School for 44 years. Evelyn was a member of Camby Community Church and a 50 year member of West Newton Order of Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family and that was her passion.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 11th and from 10 to 11 am on Friday, June 12th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Pastor Brad Long will officiate a celebration of life service at 11 am on Friday, June 12th at the funeral home. Evelyn will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
