Obituary for Denise Faye Roberson (Hawkins)

Denise Faye (Hawkins) Roberson, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, November 29th, 2022. She was born July 6th, 1952 in Indianapolis to her parents James Phillo and Emily Jean (Austin) Hawkins. She married James Larry Roberson on March 16th, 1991. She was a resident of Mooresville for 20 years, resided in Florida for 15 years, and was also a resident of Indianapolis.

Denise is survived by her husband, James Larry Roberson of Indianapolis; her four children: Leslea (Marcos) Martinez of Indianapolis, Jimmy Roberson of Chicago, Chrissy Roberson of Indianapolis, and Jennifer (Kenny) Brizendine of Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Jaedyn Denise, Thalea Jewell, Marcos, Maddie, and Kaiden; one great grandson, Liam; one brother, Phillip (Darlene) Hawkins; two sisters: Melissa Hawkins and Anita Hazeltine; four nieces: Lauren, Erika, Lindsay, and Emily; three nephews: Phillip, Timothy, and Austin; two great nieces: Aspen and Josie; and one great nephew, Teddy. Denise is preceded in death by both of her parents: two brothers: Dennis Hawkins and Tim Hawkins; and her step-mother, Florence.

Denise was a 1970 graduate of Decatur Central High School. She worked for US Airways in Administration for 20 years before retiring in 2008. Denise previously worked for Eli Lilly as a Secretary for 10 years. She attended Grace Assembly of God in Whiteland. In her spare time, Denise enjoyed singing, reading, putting together puzzles, and playing board and card games. She loved gardening and bird watching. Denise loved traveling and spending time with family. During her earlier years, Denise enjoyed boating and camping. She was a friend to all, especially her furry friends, she always had cats and dogs.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, December 4th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 4 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
