Obituary for David Lee Hunter

David Lee Hunter, 77, of Mooresville, passed away Friday, September 2nd, 2022 . He was born February 26th, 1945 in Beech Grove, Indiana to his parents, Oliver and Barbara Gene (Jackson) Hunter. On December 27th, 1963, he married the late Marsha Kay (Featherston) Hunter. She passed away in August of 1984. David later on married Naomi Ruth (Helton) Hunter on February 14th, 1985. He was a resident of Mooresville for most of his life.

David is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Naomi Ruth (Helton) Hunter of Mooresville; three daughters: Lisa Hunter of Martinsville, Jennifer (Randy) McKinley of Martinsville, and Monica (Phil) Shelton of Lebanon; two step daughters: Ronda Utt of Mooresville and Theresa (Kevin) Elliott of Mooresville; seven grandchildren: David, Emily, Miranda, Kaylan, Cory, Tyler and Casey; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers: Gary (Hazel) Hunter and James (Shirley) Hunter; and one sister, Phyllis Featherston. David is preceded in death by both of his parents; and his first wife, Marsha Kay (Featherston) Hunter.

David was a 1963 graduate of Mooresville High School. He was a Factory Worker for Allison Transmission in Indianapolis for 30 years before retiring in 1996. David was a member of Local 933. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading, hunting, camping and watching science fiction. David is known for his beer can collection.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 6th and from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, September 7th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am following visitation on Wednesday, September 7th at the funeral home. David will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
