Obituary for Cordell L. Casteel

Cordell L. Casteel, 80, Mooresville, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 20, 2014. Cordell was born to Lee & Lucy (Golden) Casteel on January 17, 1934 in Mooresville. Cordell was a 1952 Monrovia High School graduate. Cordell was a Marine Corps Veteran during the Korean War. Cordell married Mary (Coleman) Casteel on April 16, 1969.

Cordell was Owner-Operator of C & C Construction & Sons in Mooresville from 1980-2000. He was also Owner-Operator of Taco Maker & Noble Romans in Waverly. He loved all sports including NASCAR, Colts and IU basketball. He also enjoyed woodworking. He has lived in Mooresville for most of his life.

Cordell is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Casteel; nine children, Lenea (Tracey) Andrews, Sheila (Mike) Cramer, James (Rita) Casteel, Greg Casteel, Alex Casteel, Jacob Casteel, Sean Casteel and Chrissy Casteel; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Casteel and two sisters, Doris Gordon & Margie Cody. Cordell is preceded in death by his parents, Lee & Lucy Casteel; a son, Joey Casteel and three brothers, Carl, David & James Casteel.

Family and friends may attend calling hours from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 and 9-10 a.m., April 24, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. James Casteel and Angie Woodrum will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Cordell will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
