Obituary for Clarice "Joy" Berman

Clarice “Joy” Berman, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, November 26th, 2021. She was born May 27th, 1950 in Washburn, Wisconsin. Her parents, Jack M. and Joyce I. (Reiten) Rooker moved the family to the greater Indianapolis area where she spent most of her life.

Joy is survived by her long time companion, Verne Sinclair of Indianapolis; one son, Bob (Stacy) Berman of Zionsville; Verne’s children: Tina Sinclair of Indianapolis, Angie (Jerome) Fine of Indianapolis and Kelly (Tim) Hammer of Indianapolis; and her grandchildren, along with her nieces and nephew. Joy is preceded in death by both of her parents; two brothers: Jack Rooker and Jimmy Rooker; and one sister, Janie Rooker.

Joy was a 1968 graduate, attending Martinsville and Decatur Central High School. She was a member of the American Legion Post #64. Joy most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was known by many as a very caring woman and was always thinking of the well being of others.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 1st and from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, December 2nd at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 2nd at the funeral home. Joy will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
