Obituary for Carolyn Sue Barker (Palmer)
Carolyn Sue (Palmer) Barker, 77, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, December 31st, 2023. She was born December 12th, 1946 in Liberty, Kentucky to her parents Carey Eugene and Velma Ellen (Atwood) Palmer. She married William A. Barker on May 13th, 2013.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, William A. Barker of Mooresville; four children: Angie Thurman (Norman) of Indianapolis, Jimmy Newlin (Ida) of Camby, Todd Newlin (Debra) of Monrovia, and Jeff Newlin (Joni) of Monrovia; 12 grandchildren: Shannon, Trevor, Jocelyn, Jimmy, Gracie, Steven, Todd, Angel, Amanda, Jeffery, Avery, Emery, Lisa Marie, and Julia Diane; several great grandchildren; two sisters: Ada Greene and Sharon Sparks; and two brothers: Garey Palmer and Tim Palmer. Carolyn is preceded in death by both of her parents and her first husband, James William Newlin.
Carolyn attended Mooresville High School. She was a Beautician for 47 years. Carolyn worked at Shear Magic Styling Salon where she retired in 2015. Carolyn spent most of her career at Amy's Beauty Shop. She also worked at Phyllis and Company Beauty Salon and was Owner and Operator of Carolyn & Co. Carolyn was a member of the American Legion Post #103 Women's Auxiliary and attended Towne Center Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, motorcycle rides, camping, traveling, and especially spending time with family. Carolyn was known by many as a beautiful and flashy woman. She loved all jewelry and fancy clothes.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 3:30 to 5 pm on Friday, January 5th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 5 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
