Obituary for Carol Jean Bastin (Blackman)

Carol Jean (Blackman) Bastin, 74, of Mooresville, passed away Monday, October 24th, 2022. She was born August 20th, 1948 in Salem, Indiana to her parents Eugene and Gladys (Ashabranner) Blackman. She married Ralph Duane Bastin on January 10th, 1963. She was a previous resident of Salem, Indiana for 16 years and has resided in Mooresville since 1965.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Duane Bastin of Mooresville; three children: Robin (David) Perkins of Mooresville, Kevin D. (Karen) Bastin of Plainfield, and Bill (Star) Bastin of Mooresville; six grandchildren: Connor Easley, Stephanie VanDeVanter, Matthew Perkins, Summer Hogan, Cody Perkins, and Samantha Wells; three great grandsons: Tanner Douglas, Maverick Perkins and Easton Patrick; two great granddaughters: Kierstyn Bolin and Haley VanDeVanter; and one great great grandson, Maeson Douglas. Carol is preceded in death by both of her parents; one sister, Paula Murphy; and one brother, Jack Blackman.

Carol loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, rock hunting, mushroom hunting and bird watching. Carol was a very loving woman. When her kids were in school, she served as a room mother. Carol also loved to spend time at the beach and finding shells.

Family and friends may show their loved and support from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, October 28th and from 12 to 1 pm on Saturday, October 29th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, October 29th following visitation at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
