Rev. Billy Gene Burnside Sr., 82, of Heltonville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5th, 2020. He was born June 11th, 1938 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to his parents, Albert Burnside and Julia (Young) McKee, where he resided for 18 years. He married Mildred (Allender) Burnside on June 13th, 1956. He previously resided in Indianapolis for 12 years before living in Columbus for 52 years.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred (Allender) Burnside of Heltonville; three sons, Billy (Mary) Burnside Jr., Scotty (Karla) Burnside of Scipio, and Timmy (Candi) Burnside of Scipio; four grandchildren: Kelli Adams, Travis Burnside, Shaylee Burnside, and Abigail Burnside; two great grandchildren: Micah Adams and Chase Burnside; two brothers: Kenneth and Larry McKee of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Billy is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Odell, Leroy, Carl Ray, Glen an Boyce Burnside; and three sisters: Bernice Holt and Onita Holden and Yvonne.
Billy worked in Cooler Assembly for Cummins Engine in Columbus for 30 years before retiring in 1975. He was also retired from Ministry after 60 years, retiring from Faith Assembly Tabernacle in Columbus where he was also a member. Billy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 3 to 8 pm on Monday, November 9th and from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, November 10th at West Newton Worship and Youth Center, 7860 S. Mooresville Road, Camby In 46113. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 10th at the church. Billy will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton. Arrangements were entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
