Obituary for Bernard F. Mattingly

Bernard F. Mattingly, 60, of Monrovia, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015. He was born to Thomas F. and Evelyn (Gibbs) Mattingly on April 23, 1955 in Beech Grove. He married Vicky (Murray) Mattingly on October 15, 1976.

Bernie was a sprinkler fitter for Ryan Fire Protection for 34 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Local 669 Sprinkler Fitters Union. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, four wheeling and also a fan of drag racing. He lived in Monrovia for most of his life and Indianapolis for 5 years.

Bernie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vicky Mattingly of Monrovia; three children, Michelle (David) Newton of Brownsburg, Bernard F. (Viki) Mattingly Jr. of HI, Billy (Desiree) Mattingly of Monrovia; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Davis of Mooresville and Doris Hooper of FL. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Evelyn Mattingly and two brothers, Thomas & Roy Mattingly.

Family and friends may gather from 2-6 p.m., Saturday, June 6 and 1-2 p.m., Sunday, June 7 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Ken Hayden will officiate the 2 p.m. celebration of life service on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary. Bernie will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
