Obituary for Arthur R Stricker Sr.

Arthur R. Stricker Sr, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, October 21st, 2020. He was born February 23rd, 1933 in Leesport, Pennsylvania to his parents Lester and Helen Stricker. Arthur spent his childhood in Leesport, Pennsylvania and later on in his childhood he moved to Long Island, New York and resided there until 1969. He then moved to Indianapolis, making it his permanent residence.

Arthur is survived by his five children: Art (Diana) Stricker of Mooresville, John (Joanne) Stricker of Mooresville, Larry Stricker of Indianapolis, Tom Stricker Sr. of Indianapolis, and Martha "Moffy" (Tony) Tucker of California; companion of seven years, Janet L. Sellmeyer of Indianapolis; and Grandchildren: Jessica, Jessie, Artie, Brandy, Amy, Matthew, Jenny, Rachel, Tommy Jr., Devan Jr., Christopher, James, Dawn Marie, and Richard Jr. Arthur is preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife of 57 years, Martha Marie Stricker; one son, Steve Stricker; one brother, Richard Stricker; and one sister, Patricia Stricker.

Arthur was a 1951 graduate of Mineola High School in New York. He later went on and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Arthur was a part of the Atlantic Fleet Air Force and Patrol Squadron Twenty Three. He received a National Defense Service Medal. While in the Navy he received his Aviation Class A Certification. Arthur worked as a Airplane Mechanic for TWA for over 35 years before retiring.

Arthur was a very good husband and father and was very supportive of his family. He was a private person. He loved traveling, working on airplanes, and attending car shows. He was an honorable man and was described as a gentleman by many.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, October 24th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary.
