Obituary for Ada M Carter (Tracht)

Ada Mae (Tracht) Carter, 95, of Camby, passed peacefully into the comforting embrace of her Savior, on Friday, January 14th, 2022. Ada was born October 7th, 1926 in Middletown, Ohio to her parents, Homer and Cordelia (Andrews) Tracht. When she was 4yrs old her family travelled across the country to California where she was a resident until she met and fell in love with Clyde. She was married to Clyde William Carter for more than 45 years before his passing and was a resident of Camby for over 74 years. She passed away in the home that her and her beloved husband, Clyde, built with their own two hands in 1948.

Ada is survived by her four children: Shirley (Stan) Liechty of Michigan, Beverly (Mark) Hadley of Monrovia, Barbara (Jim) Jones of Illinois, and Marci (Wayne) Ralph of Camby; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and two brothers: Jim and Bob Tracht. Ada is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Clyde William Carter; one son, Ronald L. Carter; two brothers: Jack Tracht and Tom Tracht; and two sisters: Frances Burns and Patty Andrews.

Ada was a current member of Lifeline Baptist Church (the former Good Shepherd Baptist Church) where many years were spent volunteering and worshiping into her 90s. She loved to sing and study her Bible. She spent many hours in prayer for her family far and wide.

Ada spent her life doing for others and she was quite talented in many areas.

She loved baking cookies for her family and for her church. She enjoyed cooking up some good old-fashioned meals like chicken and noodles, Sunday pot roast, crispy fried chicken and her tunnel of fudge bunt cake were a few of her families' favorites.

Ada was a talented seamstress, creating dozens of wedding gowns, bridal party and flower girls' dresses for many couples' special day. She spent many hours at her sewing machine and on the floor cutting patterns. Ada handmade many dresses and outfits for herself, her children and grandchildren through the years. She enjoyed quilting and gifted many beautiful hand-stitched quilts to her family. Ada was still very active well into her golden years and was very much into fitness, flower gardening and lawn care.

A memorial service in the summer to be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.

Feel free to donate or volunteer to any dementia or Alzheimer’s research in her honor. We pray for a cure to this terrible disease.
