Obituary for Wayne Thomas Horton

Wayne Thomas Horton, 86, formerly of West Newton, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 with family by his side. He was born in West Newton to Laurence and Amy (Nichols) Horton on May 19, 1933. He married Sharon (Roberts) Horton on Veteran's Day in 1967, and after her death he was remarried to Judy (Smith) Horton in 1984.

Wayne is survived by his four children, Paul Horton of Greenwood, Wanetta (David) Johnson of Florida, April (Michael) Moss of New Whiteland, and Brian (Rosalin) Horton of Texas; 11 grandchildren, Alysa, Austin, Janelle, Jacob, Elijah, Charity, Jeremiah, Solomon, Kaitlyn, Ruth and Grace; one great granddaughter, Tatum; one brother, Joseph Horton of Beech Grove; a twin sister, Jeanette Blanck; and several cousins. Wayne is preceded in death by both of his parents; two wives Sharon (Roberts) Horton and Judy (Smith) Horton; an infant son; and a brother, Roy Horton.

Wayne was a 1951 graduate of Decatur Central High School. Wayne was a Korean War Veteran while serving in the Navy. He worked for FMC- Rexnord for 42 years and retired in 1997 from the shipping department. He was a member of West Newton United Methodist Church and was on the West Newton Cemetery board of directors. He loved to play card games and spend time with family. Wayne enjoyed all sports and gospel music.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 7th and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service held by Nancy Nichols will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8th at Jones Family Mortuary. He will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
