Obituary for Scott Holmes

Steven "Scott" Holmes, 66 of Avon, IN went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2017. Scott was born in Beech Grove, IN on February 16, 1951 to Russell Robert Holmes and Helen (Richmond) Holmes. Scott was a 1969 graduate of Decatur Central High School. Scott lived in Plainfield for 18 years and in Avon since 2000.

Scott served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1975. Scott was employed as a Corporate Pilot by Conseco Inc. and several other companies. Scott was very active as he was a member of the Avon American Legion Post #145; he was a lifetime member of Brownsburg VFW Post #6128; member of Cataract Yacht Club for 34 years; and enjoyed boating activities and spending time with family and friends. Scott was everyone's best friend and friendly to all.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Deeanna (Matthew) Duncan of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Claire Duncan; and brother, Jerry (Sandy) Holmes of Cloverdale. Scott is also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenny Holmes.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, August 7 and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday August 8 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, Mooresville. Their will be a celebration of life service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the banquet center. Scott will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary.
