Florence M.  Taylor (Lewis)
Florence M. (Lewis) Taylor, 88, of Monrovia, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2018. She was born on May 18, 1929 to Hobart and Cora (Pryor) Lewis in Monrovia. She graduated from Monrovia High School in 1947. She married Doyle Nick Taylor on June 28, 1947.

Florence is survived by a loving son, Dennis A. Taylor of Florida; a loving daughter, Darlena K. Howard of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, David R. Taylor; two grandchildren; and three sisters.

Before retiring in 2004, Florence was a Secretary for National City Bank in Indianapolis for 39 years. She was an active, lifetime member of Monrovia United Methodist Church where she served on several committees and held office. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Monrovia Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of Sahara Grotto Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed hosting events for family and friends along with cooking, music, clogging and loved crafts, bingo and playing cards. She lived in her birthplace of Monrovia for 58 years and Mooresville for 20 years.

Family and friends may gather to pay their respects from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 7th and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8th in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. There will be a 7:30 p.m. Eastern Star Service on Monday evening. Pastor Gordon Esterline will officiate Florence's celebration of life service at 10 a.m on Tuesday, May 8th in Jones Family Mortuary. Florence will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall.
