Obituary for Richard A. Morley Sr.

Richard A.  Morley Sr.
Richard A. Morley Sr., 90, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 10, 1928 to William Henry Morley and Fannie Jane (McNeil) Morley in Freedom. He married Wilma Jean (Woolard) Morley on March 2, 1946.

Richard is survived by five loving children, Sherry Kerkhof of Mooresville, Susan (Chris) Goss of Mooresville, Richard A. Morley Jr. of Mooresville, Rex (Tina) Morley of Mooresville, Lisa (J.D.) Parker of Martinsville; special companion, Treva Richer; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Roger Allen Morley; four brothers; and three sisters.

Richard was a Foreman for Chevrolet Bus and Truck in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1977. He also owned and operated Morley Construction Company. He was a member of Spencer Christian Church and Mooresville Fraternal Order of Eagles. He lived in Mooresville for most of his life.

Richard especially enjoyed spending time at his farm in Spencer. He spent many happy days there fishing, hunting mushrooms and hosting friends and family for pitchins and wiener roasts. He was a caring father who provided a peaceful, happy home. He used his carpentry skills to help all of his children build their home and lives. Gatherings at the family home were always a treat. Grandkids especially enjoyed hours working and playing with Grandad and swimming in the pool. He was an avid basketball fan and was especially loyal to IU.

Family and friends may gather for calling hours from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. There will be a Circle of Friends service to celebrate Richard at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 451 Samuel Moore Parkway, Mooresville, IN 46158.
