Bennie W.  Shirley
Bennie W. Shirley, 74, of Mooresville, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home. He was born January 18, 1943 in Milltown, KY to Harry Alan and Vylittia (Parnell) Shirley. He married Katherine M. (Spellman) Shirley on January 10, 1970.

Bennie grew up in Milltown, KY, also living in Indianapolis for 19 years, Martinsville for 34 years and Mooresville just this last year. Bennie was a machine operator for Detroit Diesel Allison Division General Motors for 27 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of UAW Local #933; enjoyed spending a great deal of time outdoors, fishing, hunting, and chopping wood.

Bennie is survived by his lovely wife; five children: Brenda (Gary) Ballenger of KY, Selby (Sandra) Shirley of KY, Kelly Davis of Georgia, Sharon Shirley of Mooresville and Karen (Charles) Rogers of Mooreville; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and five brothers: Willie, Phylip, Danny, Tommy and Gary Shirley. Bennie is also preceded in death by a great grandson, Dalton McAllister.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 10am to 12 noon, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Michael Linville Sr. will officiate the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Bennie will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
