Obituary for John Arthur "Jack" Hall

John Arthur “Jack” Hall, 86, of Camby and formerly of Ft Myers, FL and Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was born to Maxey Gregg and Mary Madeline (Burns) Hall on December 14, 1930 in Springfield, IL. He served our country honorably by serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Cadmus. He married Erma (Chitwood) Hall on November 26, 1953.

John was an Inspector for Allison Gas Turbine, a division of General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Ellettsville United Methodist Church, UAW Local 933. He was a lifetime member of Gosport VFW. He enjoyed working in the yard, his dogs and loved working with stained glass. He built as a family project a three story log home in 1972. He lived in Camby for most of his life.

John is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Erma Hall of Camby; two sons, John A. (Donna) Hall II of Plainfield and Mike K. (Pam) Hall of Brazil; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Johnna, Justin and Jacob; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Maxey Gregg Hall of FL; three nieces; and one nephew. John is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Phillip.

Family and friends may gather for calling hours from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th and 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 9th in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. A grandson, Justin Hall will officiate John’s celebration of life service on Thursday, November 9th at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. John will be laid to rest in a 2 p.m. (1 p.m. Sumner, IL time) graveside service on Thursday, November 9th in Sumner Cemetery in Sumner, IL.
