Obituary for David L. Decker

David L.  Decker
David L. Decker, 53, of West Lafayette, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2017 with his loving family by his side. David was born to Milburn D. and Betty A. (Hatfield) Decker on May 1, 1963 in Indianapolis. David graduated from Southwestern High School in 1981. David served honorably in the US Army during Desert Storm.

David was a Superintendent for the Carpenter's Union for several years as well as working across the country on various projects. He was a member of Eminence Masonic Lodge #440, West Lafayette American Legion and VFW. He was also an A & A volunteer firefighter. He loved spending time with family, hunting, building his farm and expanding his library collection. He lived in West Lafayette for the past four years, Eminence for 20 years and grew up in Bengal.

David is survived by four children, Paige Decker of Key West, FL, Zach, Jacob and Adam Decker, all of West Lafayette; parents, Milburn and Betty Decker of Jabez, KY; and a sister, Lynn Bateman of Loogootee.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 and 12 p.m. - 1p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. There will be a 7:30 p.m. Masonic Service on Thursday evening in the mortuary. Pastor Steve Ranson will officiate David's celebration of life service at 1 p.m. on Friday in the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the West Lafayette VFW, 2660 Duncan Road, Lafayette, IN 47904 or West Lafayette American Legion, 4929 IN-43, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
